like the wind…

For grace that’s like the wind, a breeze that washes over, carries me That fills my lungs and helps me breathe Oh how I thank you Lord For like a leaf that catches wind I take the breeze you daily send Or storm or gust or winds gone still What’s filtered through this wind, Your will Or like a little ship am I moved, yet anchored, guided by The winds of grace—not just the tide I will adjust  my sailsRead more

Thankful Thursday

Sometimes I’m amazed at how  quickly the days fly on by….especially when I’m on break. It’s been so good to catch up on some things and not feel like the days are so packed, and I’ve been really thankful for that. But today, well, I woke up feeling like I just hadn’t accomplished quite as much as I should have and was concerned because the break is just about over for me. Sometimes no matter how much I check offRead more

note to self…

Note to Self:  Some things—beautiful, unexpected, glorious things–– ONLY grow in the desert. Like Cacti. And blue desert flowers. And ‘resurrection plants’. Maybe the periods of drought coupled with lots of Light can cultivate unique and amazing things that are  indigenous to places you’d least expect…and not just in plants mind you <3.  I love that God has variety beyond compare and that He can use anything, anyone, any place to make things grow out of the dust. Am thinking that’sRead more

perspective

“If you believe in a God who controls the big things, you have to believe in a God who controls the little things.  It is we, of course, to whom things look ‘little’ or ‘big’.” – ~Elisabeth Elliot   P.S. Photo credit goes to Karen Keyes. We were photographing a wedding together. I thought this was my photo, but just realized it’s hers! Oops! Sorry, Karen 🙂 Gotta give credit where credit is due friend. Beautiful shot.  I have oneRead more

Thankful Thursday

Today, am thankful for sunrises that look like sherbet, and for eyes to see them. …for…Paths to take and the feet to take them. …for…Inspiration given and the heart to receive it. …for Growth seen and the scaffolds to support it. Thankful for laughter this week amidst lots of tears. (Some weeks are just like that…) Thankful for sneezes, and Chlortabs that slow them down, and good food. For weather getting cold and the first pot of chili of theRead more

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday thoughts?  Am thankful for reminders to breathe that come in the form of beautiful clouds and fresh winds and sunsets in a vineyard. Am thankful for walks and talks with my kids coming and going and purpose (which often looks and feels a whole lot like work. ) Thankful for the sweet rest that comes after hard work…and the hard work that comes after sweet rest. It’s good to feel needed, but also to be reminded thatRead more

Thankful Thursday

So, this  week, I’m thankful for….dirt. Dirt? Yep. Dirt. Good things grow in…dirt. Little things… Big things… and things that aren’t things … …like kids. Am thinking kids grow in dirt. and sometimes the more vested they are, the more dirt they get to wear. You’ve gotta get off the sidelines to get dirty.   And why am I thinking of dirt this week? Well, because it made more than one mom cry last Thursday night. Last Thursday night wasRead more

one in every crowd

They say, “There’s one in every crowd.” I say, thank goodness for that! Am thinking….If you’re lucky, there’s more than one 🙂 Thankful (most times!) for my ones in the crowd who keep things fun and fresh and unpredictable, I’m thankful for the way they help this (somewhat) predictable, (kind of) nerdy, (mostly) steady bird laugh and experience so much more.  Was not easy as a young mom when I was trying to keep my ‘ducks in a row’, butRead more

Thankful Thursday

So, it’s been a sweet week. Last Friday morning started with dropping Tanner and his friend off at his ‘Young Life’ ‘Brojangles’ breakfast at 7 a.m.  It’s not always easy rushing out the door that early, but there are definite perks. Like this view… At school, for our last Friday before the 3 week break (YAHOO!!!), I had coffee and emergency chocolate on hand. It came in handy. Full day. Oh, and Hope must’ve known that it’d be super fullRead more

Thankful Thursday

Ugh. Where to begin. It’s February 15th, the day after Valentine’s Day. As sweet as yesterday was, today started with how it ended last night…with the news about the 17 lost. School shooting. Ugh.  It began for so many with fears and tears and senseless loss. Tough to be thankful for that. And the Keurig coffee maker is being persnickety. That seemingly small and shallow detail didn’t help with the start of my day either. I went into school andRead more
