Thankful Thursday thoughts? Am thankful for reminders to breathe that come in the form of beautiful clouds and fresh winds and sunsets in a vineyard. Am thankful for walks and talks with my kids coming and going and purpose (which often looks and feels a whole lot like work. ) Thankful for the sweet rest that comes after hard work…and the hard work that comes after sweet rest. It’s good to feel needed, but also to be reminded that life can keep moving forward with or without us.
Our days are a gift, not a given, and knowing that might make us appreciate each one more…no matter how hard the work or how short the rest. Maybe ‘rest’ is allowing the rest of the world to keep moving while we just focus on the hope that God is with us in the midst of where we are in the here and now. Maybe ‘rest’ is so much more about mind and heart than it is about sleep. (But am quite aware of the huge gift of sleep…especially now at a few minutes before midnight, ha! ) And before I ramble on more, will close for now, but not before saying I’m so thankful for those of you who read my ramblings and share and encourage me with your thoughts. It’s so good to know that people are along for the ride in the midst of all the comings and goings and changes.
“Our rest lies in looking to the Lord, not to ourselves.” Watchman Nee
“Come unto me, ALL who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
