Valor

“The Proverbs 31 woman is a star not because of what she does but how she does it—with valor. So do your thing. If it’s refurbishing old furniture—do it with valor. If it’s keeping up with your two-year-old—do it with valor. If it’s fighting against human trafficking . . . leading a company . . . or getting other people to do your work for you—do it with valor. Take risks. Work hard. Make mistakes. Get up the next morning.Read more

tend…

“Where you tend a rose, my lad, a thistle cannot grow.” ~ Frances Hodgson Burnette …am thinking the same principle applies with the tending of irises… …or tulips…   or hydrangeas… or poppies….or even…me. Yes, am thinking the principle of tending is not just about roses. ❤ Blessings ~ Heather   “Keep your heart with all vigilance,  for from it flow the springs of life.” Proverbs 4:23   p.s.  Cool latin roots again. Tend = ‘stretch and strain”… attend, intend, intent, …not pretend…nope.Read more

presence

One of my favorite quotes is by Roy Lessin. I have it in a frame hanging on my wall.  Well, actually, it was hanging on the wall. The other day, just out of the blue, the frame fell down with a thump and landed on the desk underneath it. It made me jump and brought attention to this quote that I see everyday, but maybe, just maybe, needed to be reminded of again! Here it is: “Victory is not found inRead more

“Faith does not eliminate questions. But faith knows where to take them.” ~Elisabeth Elliott   I’ll take it to the Throne of Grace I’ll meet God there to seek His face My refuge will be His embrace as I meet Him there I will lay my burdens there and cast them to His Sovereign Care I’ll trust that as He hears my prayer I’ll rise and walk by faith I’ll rise and walk by grace I’ll rise and I’ll beRead more

note to self…

Note to Self:  Some things—beautiful, unexpected, glorious things–– ONLY grow in the desert. Like Cacti. And blue desert flowers. And ‘resurrection plants’. Maybe the periods of drought coupled with lots of Light can cultivate unique and amazing things that are  indigenous to places you’d least expect…and not just in plants mind you <3.  I love that God has variety beyond compare and that He can use anything, anyone, any place to make things grow out of the dust. Am thinking that’sRead more

‘because it has a song’…

She’s there in the morning…. ….and late afternoon…. …and evening… Most mornings I’m awake before I first hear her sing. But usually by the time I’m gathering my things to go out the door, I hear this little bird singing loudly at the top of her sweet lungs. Makes me smile, and reminds me there’s lots to sing about. …and lately, she’s even been doing the same thing at night…sitting on a perch and singing her little heart out forRead more

what we see

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”   ~ Albert Einstein   I’m not sure that there are only two ways to live our lives… but I love this quote and so believe that those who have eyes to see the Hand and grace of God….see miracles everywhere, everyday. Jesus often said, “for those who have ears to hear…” before he spoke…asRead more
