deeper still

Was praying tonight and found myself drawn to a quote my friend said the other day.  I had asked her for prayer for another friend who was facing a huge challenge, a pit, if you will. She texted back “there is no pit so deep, God’s love is not deeper still. ” It’s a quote by Corrie ten boom. As a holocaust survivor, Corrie knew a thing or two about pits. She knew about darkness and despair. She also knew about a love that cuts through it all and sustains. She has a lot of amazing quotes,  but this one is one of my favorites. As I prayed tonight for some “pits” I’m aware of, this poem spilled out. Hoping it’s read by those who need a little reminder that yes, God’s love for you is deeper still than any pit you may be in.

“There is no pit so deep God’s love is not deeper still”

Rock bottoms we may reach,  but all voids God’s love can fill

When difficulties rage and make us wonder why

God calls us trust Him still, trust leads us to abide

Abide in pits so deep? Abide in valleys low?

Abide in darkest nights? Yes. Abide where’er you go

For where ever we may go, He is already there

He says bring it to him, oh child cast your care

He knows the way ahead, He knows the way behind

He loves us where we are. Those who seek Him He will find.

So friend of mine hold on, hold to Words so true

His love is deeper still, His love is, child, for you.

By His Grace ~

“Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.”

Psalm 139:7-12
