So, I’m really not 100% sure what made this poem pour out of me at 5:45 this morning, but it did. I was kind of struck by looking at a dear friend’s eyes yesterday and seeing one who was troubled, and it stirred that up in me as well. Anyway, I’m not sure if any readers are feeling ‘troubled’ right now, and of course, I hope you aren’t. But if you are, here are a few reminders to not look at the waves around…that in the midst of waves, we can ‘let not our heart be troubled.” I probably drive people crazy with my love of metaphors and analogies, but they sure help me keep perspective! And keeping perspective—it’s a discipline of sorts, isn’t it? It sure is for me anyway! I would’ve posted it this morning, but just wanted to add visuals… Okay, so moving on… here’s the poem…
Troubled waters, Turbulent seas
I see them in you, I see them in me
Troubled waters, Troubled times
Winds of change, can’t change the tide
Tides roll out, tides roll in
Storms stir up what the tide brings in
What’s revealed was hidden for a time
Don’t fear what’s seen…Don’t close your eyes
to troubled waters,
Troubled waters
Waves that stir the heart of me
Can be stilled momentarily
What is now won’t always be
Steady heart ~ resilient be
Undefined by winds of change
Yet unresigned to stay the same
Troubled heart, troubled soul
Rise above where the waters flow
Troubled heart troubled mind
What we seek we so often find
So often the seeing is beyond what’s seen
Perspective changes everything
in troubled waters
Even in troubled waters
Storms are stilled, winds blow away
Steady hearts ~ steady remain
Centered mind, grounded soul
Stay in the depths where the waves won’t go
in troubled waters
Even in troubled waters.
Steady heart, Anchored soul
In troubled seas ‘Be still and know’
Winds of change and turbulent seas
Can’t touch the heart where deep calls to deep
Steady heart , anchored soul
Be steeped in truth, in what you know
that no height, nor depth, nor anything
can separate from the one who clings
In troubled waters
Even in troubled waters
Troubled waters, Turbulent seas
I see them in you, I see them in me
Troubled waters, Troubled times
Winds of change, can’t change the tide
Amidst life’s storms, God would grant us peace
and calls “Fix your eyes on me”
The waves that roar will rise and fall
But steady is he who heeds the call
In troubled waters
Even in troubled waters.
“Let not your heart,
troubled be
Believe in God
Believe in me”
In trouble waters.
Even in troubled waters.
Blessings ~
