amen.

There’s a stretch of trees between where I live and where I used to live. If you’re driving in the late afternoon, early evening, you’ll see a beautiful show of shadows– darkness and light all over the field. It’s such a visual for me of light shining through the dark. The silhouettes of the trees only add to the beauty of this scene, and they can even make the light seem brighter when compared to the darkness. I love that. I love the way beauty can shine through some pretty dark places. And it does, shine through, that is.

The quote by Frederick Beuchner is one of my favorites…”Here is the World. Beautiful and terrible things will happen. Don’t be afraid.” Amen. Amen and amen. Fuel faith (not fear). When we’re facing a bit of darkness– here’s a reminder to just remember to look for the light–the thing to be thankful for, the reminder of God’s grace, the beauty amidst the oh so not beautiful. Pray, pray, pray, and then look for the answer, the light, the way through. God has a way of shining pretty bright when we look for Him. And that–that might be the cool thing about darkness. It makes the light all the more bright, and makes our awareness of our need, our hope for light, so much brighter as well.

“The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5

Amen.

Amen and Amen.

By His Grace~
