…a few thoughts from my window…

treesSo I looked out the window this morning and saw this, and all I could think of was something that I tell my kids (and myself!) again and again and again.  I tell them to “not look to the left or the right, you just do your thing.”  And when I saw the trees this morning, that’s exactly what I saw.

The dogwood was blooming a beautiful shade of pink.  The huge oak that was towering over it had traces of leaves and lots of pollen, the trees in background were at various stages of growth from being dormant, to being in full bloom of lime green leaves. Some trees were barren, but will bloom soon. It was a beautiful collection of textures and colors and it just made me smile.

It made me smile because it’s such a visual of the beauty that comes when we each just do what we’re called to do, and be who we’re made to be…not looking to the left or right trying to be at the stage or pace or array that the other is.  Nope, we just bloom in our own sweet time, and let others bloom in their own sweet time, and then the landscape, the community, the view is just beautiful.

Thankful for that reminder today.
