Finding the Familiar

Finding the familiar

in the fog and new terrain

where vision blurs

These my heart stirs-

familiar things that remain

Familiar things you ask?

What could these sweet gifts be?

Bare feet in the blades of grass

Dew drops on peonies

Washing dishes in the sink

Doing laundry, pulling weeds

Singing the words to a favorite song

My hair blowing in the breeze

Yes, I’m Finding the familiar

in the fog and new terrain

thankful for the daily gifts

tasks that always will remain

laughing at a silly joke

looking up at the sky

I’m finding the famliar

when my world has gone arry

Finding joy in little things

A verse, a prayer, a song

A friend who texts reminders

Of things known -all along

Because in the unfamiliar-

the daring new I face

these little things, the gifts life brings

Helps one to stand, to brave

Yes brave the unfamiliar

of worlds come-crashing down

there’s always the familiar

When we look, it can be found

So sweet friend if you’re struggling

with worlds gone raving mad

Seek joy in the familiar

go barefoot in the grass

Listen for a bird that sings

Feel the ground beneath your feet

There’s beauty and gifts so holy

in the ordinary things

Finding the familiar

Finding grace -here, now

Pioneer this territory

by holding to familiar ground

Yes finding the familiar

Boldy know that grace abounds

in the fog and in this new terrain

it’s in the little things so profound

a familiar peace is found

By His Grace~
