So a few days ago I told my husband I was tired of being brave. Yep. Tired of it. I wanted a nap, a respite, and chocolate. I wanted to yell a bit too. And cry. And maybe even tantrum.
I did eat chocolate. And I drove pretty fast with the windows down. And I lifted my voice and sang pretty loud and didn’t care who heard.

And the cool thing is, I know who heard. He always does. And He tells us that we don’t need to be brave just to be brave. Nope. We can be brave because we can trust Him with the things we face. We can trust Him and “set our face like a flint” not because we are strong or good or courageous or any of that. We can set our face like a flint and be resolute because He IS. The verse says “The Lord God helps me THEREFORE I will set my face like a flint.” (Isaiah 50:7)
When situations come that we feel like we need to be brave for, well, I’ve learned that there’s beauty when we control what we can and then…then ask God to do what we can’t.
One thing we can always always always choose is a “hallelujah”–a lifting of the voice praising the One who sees it all. It’s a relinquishing, a thanking, and an acknowledging of who He is and then giving Him all the stuff. It’s a little offering of all of it, and the cool thing is, when we lift our voice in praise, lay burdens down, well things get a lot lighter. They just do.
So that’s why this is my new favorite song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGq-zyx7CWM
It’s so worth a listen–or two, or two hundred …I think I’m on about that…
“Sometimes the only way through it is a Hallelujah….” God knows we need Him. He says in the Bible to not be downcast but to put our hope in God. He is worthy of that–Hallelujah.

Side note-I so love the line that says: “Most days faith is climbing up a mountain that has stayed”… And I know about mountains…they are tough to climb, take time and pain, but oh the view from the top. Sometimes being “brave” just means taking the next step, doing the next thing, and trusting that in the midst of whatever we are facing, there is One is so very with us in it all. And that’s more than enough of a reason to always be able to say “hallelujah…” so…..Hallelujah! yes, Hallelujah…

BEAUTIFUL, meaningful, filled with theology (which you didn’t get from school) and appropriate in all times……..remember saying many times that we never know that we’re on top of the mountain unless we’ve gone thru the valley!!! SING HALLEULAH…
