“The wonderful thing about praying is that you leave a world of not being able to do something, and enter God’s realm where everything is possible. “
~Corrie ten Boom
I saw a shooting star tonight. I walked outside and looked up and immediately saw what looked like a ball of white fire slowly melting into the horizon as if moving from one realm to another.
Funny how things like that can make you feel big and small at the same time and fill you with hope right there and then.
It reminded me that there’s a great big world out there and made me thankful that I was there at the right instant to see that star shooting across the sky.
There’s so much in life that we can’t control. Like shooting stars, so many things are beyond our reach…We can’t control what the stars do or don’t do. But we can experience them within our realm through just our showing up and looking up…and we never know when immovable things we can’t control might just start to move.
Prayer is the looking up to the One who can moves things we can’t. It’s a realizing how big and how small we truly are….how big in that God created us and loves us and calls us to pray, and small in relation to how vast the world is.
We are but a speck, but oh how loved the specks.
Here’s to the big and the small…and showing up and looking up because we know we are specks, but loved loved specks at that!
Oh, and picture a vast dark sky….and one little speck, or dot, or star that is seen as one…. In the same way that I saw that one star in a million fall, He sees each one of us…truly sees us, knows us, loves us, even though we are one in a million or trillion or beyond, and calls us by name.
What an amazing privilege it is to pray, and to call Him by name as well.
“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
